Description

Owl's End is a large house built between the mid 17th century and early 18th century. It features square-panelled timber framing with brick infill and limestone rubble, topped with a combination of artificial stone slate and red tile roofing. The house has an 'L'-shaped plan, with a timber-framed cross wing at the west gable end. There are 20th-century brick extensions at the rear, which are not considered of special interest.

The building stands two storeys high with an attic. The front facing the road has a hipped gable, with a timber-framed first floor on the far left. The ground floor includes a three-light wooden casement window with horizontal glazing bars, and a 4-light oriel window above it, supported by a moulded bracket decorated with an upside-down heart and fluting. There is a 2-light hipped dormer in the attic and matching windows on the left side. The projecting wall plate over the timber-framed section features dentil decoration.

On the rubble-built section, there are two 20th-century three-light steel casements on the ground floor and two matching 2-light casements on the first floor. The entrance features a 20th-century twelve-panel door with studs and fillets. The right gable end has two large 20th-century steel casements and a smaller three-light casement. The timber-framed cross range has an ashlar gable-end stack with moulded capping, while the rubble-built range has a brick gable-end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
