Description
Church Cottage is a cottage dating from the mid 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions. It features square-panelled timber framing with painted brick infill and painted limestone rubble, although most of the cottage has been rebuilt or encased in painted brick. The thatched roof has decorative ridge thatching and a painted brick stack. The main body of the cottage is rectangular, with an extension at the west gable end and another at right angles to the rear. It has one and a half storeys.
The south front, which faces the churchyard, has two 19th century metal casements with blind segmental heads and shutters, along with a similar 20th century casement in the single-bay extension to the left. There are two eyebrow dormers lit by canted four-light oriel windows on the first floor. A 20th century stable-type door with six glazed panes is located at the center of the main body. The ground floor of the right gable end features a flat-roofed bow window with glazing bars and two two-light wooden casements. A similar bow window is present in the 20th century extension at the rear. The former gable-end stack has been incorporated within the later extension. The interior has not been inspected.
