Description

Gothic Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins and has an artificial stone slate roof with a rendered stack. The building has a rectangular plan with lean-to extensions at the rear and stands two storeys high.

The west front, which overlooks a graveyard, is symmetrical with three windows. It features two-light casements with leaded panes and Y-glazing set within dressed pointed-headed surrounds. The central entrance has a part-glazed four-panel door with Y-glazing at the top, also within a pointed-headed surround.

On the east front, facing Station Road, there are single-light and two-light 19th-century casements with horizontal glazing bars, along with a 20th-century wooden top-hung plate glass casement and a smaller similar casement at the ground floor of the lean-to. A central 20th-century gabled stone-built porch is present, as well as a 20th-century eaves dormer without glazing bars and a skylight. A semi-circular bread oven projects from the north side of the lean-to. The roof is hipped with gable-end stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
