Description
This is a semi-detached cottage located on Station Road in Bishop’s Cleeve. The house likely dates to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. The original construction was square-panelled timber framing with rendered infill on a limestone rubble plinth. Much of the timber frame is now concealed behind brickwork, and the roof is covered with concrete tiles, likely replacing a previous thatched covering. A red brick chimney stack is present. The cottage has an ‘L’ shaped plan. The west front has a 2-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars on the ground floor, a matching window above, and a 20th-century plank door with decorative fillets. A gable end facing the road features segmental-headed 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars on both floors, separated by a horizontal band. A single, unglazed 2-light wooden casement is found on the timber-framed west front. The northern gable is hipped. A corner stack is also present. The interior of the cottage was not inspected.
