Description

Rose Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located on Station Road in Bishop’s Cleeve. The construction combines square-panelled timber framing with painted brick, limestone rubble and brick, rendered infill, and a thatched roof. A brick stack is also painted. The cottage has a rectangular plan with a gable end facing the road. A 20th-century lean-to extension, which is not of particular interest, adjoins the gable end away from the road. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high. The west front features a two-light, segmental-headed window with glazing bars, a 20th-century five-light bow window also with glazing bars, and a central two-light eaves dormer with glazing bars. A single-light, 20th-century steel casement is located in the gable end facing the road. The east elevation is timber-framed and includes a three-light, canted bay on the ground floor to the right, along with a 20th-century two-light roof dormer. The entrance is now accessed through the lean-to. The interior has not been inspected.
