Description

Eversfield is a large house dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of thinly-bedded coursed squared and dressed limestone, with large finely squared and dressed limestone. The roof is made of concrete tiles, and there are 20th-century brick stacks on the stumps of former ashlar stacks. The building has a rectangular main body and features painted brick extensions, a glazed lean-to entrance, and a one-and-a-half storey limestone extension, which are not of special interest.

The house is 2½ storeys tall with an attic and has a symmetrical twin-gabled garden front. This front includes two 4-light ovolo-moulded mullion windows with king mullions and stopped hoods on the ground floor, matching 3-light windows on the first floor, and 2-light casements in each gable. There are single-light casements with ovolo-moulded surrounds, projecting sills, and moulded hoods above. The central entrance features a plank door with a single glazed pane, set within a moulded Tudor-arched surround that has carved spandrels and a stopped hood, all within a 20th-century gabled stone-built porch.

On the right gable end, there are four 2-light stone-mullioned casements with ovolo-moulded mullions and stopped hoods, some of which retain 18th-century leaded panes. Similar windows, now blocked, are concealed by a later extension on the west gable end. The roadside front has a central gable with a 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullioned casement and a stopped hood, with the roofline of a contemporary extension, now demolished, visible below. The main body features a projecting stack and a gable-end stack, along with stepped gable-end coping and roll-cross saddles. The interior has not been inspected.
