Description

Shore Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, with later alterations. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill set on a rendered rubblestone plinth, and has a machine-tiled roof. The building is one storey and has an attic, comprising three framed bays. The framing features large square panels, with two panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate and jowled wall posts. There are late 19th century casement windows to the left and right of a ledged door located to the right of centre; this door replaces a blocked doorway that had an ogee head. To the left, there is a 20th century glazed door and two gabled eaves dormers, one of which is timber framed while the other is a 20th century imitation. An axial brown brick stack is located behind the ridge to the right, and there is a red brick end stack to the left. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have a substantially intact timber frame.
