Description
Bankside is a cottage dating from the 17th century and the late 19th century. It features square-panelled timber framing with painted brick infill set on a limestone plinth. The left gable end and rear are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, which has been partly rebuilt in brick. There is a later extension made of brick that has been painted to imitate timber framing, topped with a concrete tile roof and brick stacks, one of which sits on an ashlar stump. The building has a rectangular plan with its gable end facing the road and includes several 19th-century extensions to the south gable end.
The cottage is one and a half storeys tall, with a single storey section. The garden front features two 20th-century three-light casements with plastic frames and a 20th-century plate glass window on the far right. There are also two 2-light eaves dormers with plastic casement windows. An early plank door is located off centre to the right, sheltered by a raking canopy. The 17th-century eaves dormer at the rear has a coved and timber-framed gable with barge boarding and a curved margin. The garden front of the 19th-century extensions includes three segmental-headed 2-light casements on the ground floor, a 2-light eaves dormer, and a segmental-headed plank door leading to the single storey part. The interior has not been inspected.
