Description

No. 5 North Street is a house and shop that dates from the 17th century or earlier. The ground floor is made of squared limestone, while the upper part features 20th-century box timber framing with plaster panels. The building has an asbestos cement slate roof and stands two storeys tall with an attic. There is a single old hipped dormer that contains a three-light 19th-century casement window above one single and one double sash window without bars. On the ground floor, there are two large 20th-century bow shop fronts with glazing bars and a central glazed door. Inside, the building has heavy timber framing. The upper level, which has been heavily restored on the street front, likely jutted out over the lower level originally.
