Description

The Hawkins Monument is a chest tomb located about 3 meters north of the northeast aisle buttress in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Frampton-on-Severn. It dates back to 1700, marking the burial of Sarah Hawkins. The tomb is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping. At the time of the survey in December 1985, the base was noted to be tipping north. The corners of the tomb are adorned with panelled pilasters, and it has raised moulded oval panels on the ends, while the sides are divided into two small rectangular fielded panels.
