Description

No. 3, Market Street, is an early 18th-century dwelling and shop. It is constructed of rendered stone with a stone slate roof. The roofline connects with that of the Tolsey, the adjacent building. The property features central stone stacks. The building is two storeys high with dormers, and has four sash windows with glazing bars. A panelled door and fanlight are located at the left end, and a more recent, intrusive shop front has been added. It is reputed that the upper level originally featured a jettied overhang, according to Lindley’s work.
