Description

The Oldaker Monument is a chest tomb located about 12 meters west of the west door in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Berkeley. It commemorates Rachel Oldaker, who died in 1788, among others. The monument is made of limestone and features a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping on a tall base. The corners are adorned with quarter balusters. The end panels are rectangular with a rounded projection at the top, which includes an inscription on the east side. The plain side panels are also rectangular and contain inscriptions.
