Description

Upper Milton End Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely has a core dating from the mid to late 16th century, with extensions added in the late 18th century and again in the 19th century. The core features nearly square panel timber-framing set on a tall claystone plinth, with mostly brick and some rendered infill. The remainder of the building is constructed in brick, topped with a concrete tile roof and a large central brick ridge stack that has 19th-century oversailing courses.

The main range is two storeys and an attic, running nearly east to west, with an extension to the east from the 18th century and another to the southeast from the 19th century. There is a projecting gabled wing to the north, which is now faced in brick with a rendered plinth and a boarded gable that may also be timber-framed and contemporary with the core. A single-storey corner section to the northeast is likely from the 20th century.

The west gable end features a boarded gable and two 20th-century windows, including one in an original blocked doorway. There is a diagonal brace on the north side, and the timber-framed core projects to the east side of the stack. The east side has 20th-century casements with segmental heads, with those in the 19th-century section to the left having brick arches in a different colour. There is a blind window in the attic gable end to the east.
