Description

Slowwe Cottages is a pair of cottages likely dating from the early 17th century, and possibly the late 16th century. The construction is timber-framed with brick infill, although the timber frame is only partially visible, with the remainder of the exterior faced in brick or rendered. The rear has a slate roof, while the front features interlocking blue tile roofing. There are large, rendered brick stacks, one stepped external stack on the right-hand return, and smaller brick stacks at the left end and centre of the ridge. The cottages are arranged in a single range, with a single storey and attic. The left-hand cottage has a small single-story lean-to to the left. Three raking dormers are set into the eaves, two to the left and one to the right. The left-hand cottage features 19th-century wooden casement windows, with 20th-century fenestration to the right. Both cottages have projecting raking porches with half-glazed double doors. The left-hand cottage contains a chamfered beam on the ground floor. The remainder of the interior was not accessible at the time of listing but may contain features of interest.
