Description
The Red Lion is a Grade II listed inn located on a corner site in Arlingham, likely dating from the 17th century, with some 19th-century window features. The building has a roughcast exterior on a plinth, with a partial plat band at the front and a tile roof that is hipped at the corner. It has rendered stacks, one of which is cut back at the hip. The structure is L-shaped and consists of two storeys. There are four windows, arranged as one plus three, featuring 16-pane sash windows. A 20th-century plank door is set between the second and third bays from the left, topped by a gabled porch hood. The left side of the building has two bays, with 12-pane sashes on the first floor (four over eight) and 16-pane sashes on the ground floor, along with a low central entrance to a cellar. On the right side of the front, there is a small coach house with an arched entrance and a slate roof. The interior has been mostly altered. The inn occupies a prominent position at the corner of the main crossroads in the village.
