Description
Homelea is a building that was originally the main part of Friday Street Farm, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It was slightly extended later in the 19th century to form a double range, but the later range, now called Friday Street Farmhouse, has been much altered and is not of special interest. The building is constructed of brick with a slate roof at the front and concrete tiles at the rear, featuring shortened brick end stacks with rendered bases.
Homelea was built as a single range, consisting of two storeys and an attic in the gable end, set on a raised basement. It has five windows, which are wood 2-light mullions with transoms from the late 20th century; the ground floor windows are longer, and the central first-floor window has been bricked up. All windows have large splayed painted keystones and voussoirs. The central door is accessed by five steps and consists of six panels, with the top two being glazed and the rest fielded. It is topped with a flat moulded porch hood on struts, featuring a margin glazed transom light across the front. To the left, there is a cambered-head 2-light basement window.
