Description

The Hurns Farmhouse is an early to mid-19th century brick farmhouse with a Welsh slate roof, featuring a reversed U-plan design. It has two gabled wings at the back, with a later gabled block inserted between them. The front block has a gable stack on the left, which is connected to a long single-storey barn that extends to the left towards Kingston Road. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three windows, which are sash windows with original glazing bars set under stepped voussoir lintels with projecting keystones. The central entrance has a six-panel door and is sheltered by a 20th-century trellis porch. The rear wings are also two storeys tall and feature two-light casement windows. This farmhouse and its attached barn are prominently located at the corner of Longaston Lane and Kingston Road, and they group well with Rectory Farm.
