Description

The Gardener monument is a chest tomb located about 8 meters north of the north-east nave window in the churchyard of the Church of St. Kenelm. It dates from the mid-18th century, with the earliest decipherable date being 1776 on the south side. The monument is made of limestone and features a flat top, a moulded plinth, and capping. The corners are designed with panelled 'pilaster' features and fielded end panels with quadrant corners. The long side facing south is divided into two sections by a panelled strip and includes octagonal inscription panels. The north side has two inscription panels that are framed with carved surrounds, which are adorned with three cherub heads and wings along the top.
