Description

A group of three unidentified monuments and a Chambers monument is located about 3 meters northwest of the northwest tower buttress in the churchyard of the Church of St. Kenelm. This group consists of four closely set chest tombs. The two end tombs, including the Chambers monument, date from the 17th century, while the two center tombs are from the early 18th century.

The tombs have flat tops and no visible plinths. From south to north, the first tomb has plain sides and ends with an eroded inscription carved on the top and is shallow. The second tomb features a moulded capping with simple moulded ends and rectangular inscription panels. Its long sides have a central square panel and two narrow flanking panels, all of which are very plain. The third tomb has lyre ends with oval inscription panels, and its sides are divided into two panels with two ovals surrounded by acanthus leaves, although only one such panel is present on the south side. The fourth tomb has a plain moulded top, with sides divided into recessed rectangular panels. The left side on the north has an inscription in capitals that reads: "HEER LYETH THE BODYE / OF ROBERT CHAMBERS / OF BATH WHO DECEASED / THE _ OF NOVEM AN / _____". This tomb is also shallow.
