Description
The gate piers and boundary walls to Burdock, a builders' yard, date from the early 19th century and are constructed from limestone ashlar. The structure features a pair of rusticated piers, each measuring about 650 mm square, topped with block capitals and cavetto mould finials, positioned approximately 3 meters apart. From each pier, a convex quadrant of ashlar wall leads to flat coping, which is finished with a pair of plain piers about 400 mm square, also capped but at a lower level. To the left, there is a run of ashlar walling, incorporating some concrete blockwork, standing about 2 meters high with plain coping, which connects to a similar boundary wall at Cotswold House. One of the lower piers has been reconstructed using concrete block, but the entire structure is significant for its contribution to the visual quality of the street.
