Description
Nutgrove House is a house with a shop located at the end of a short row, dating from the 18th century, with some evidence of 17th-century features in the wing. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a stone slate roof. It has a broad frontage facing the street, with a deep wing extending to the left and a brick gable stack on the left side. The house is two storeys high, includes an attic, and has a part cellar. It features a four-window arrangement; on the ground floor at the far left, there is a small 6-pane casement window, followed by a part-glazed 19th-century door with a plain transom light above. Next, there is a canted bay shop front with three 12-pane sashes, a 6-paned fielded door, and a 12-pane sash window, all situated beneath three 12-pane late 18th-century sashes. At bay three, there is a recessed blank panel with a moulded surround. The roof includes three 2-light gabled dormers. On the right end, beneath the ground floor, there is a 2-light cellar opening made of stone with a central ovolo-mould mullion. The deep wing on the right is also two storeys high and has a hipped stone slate roof. The return gable on the left features various openings, including a blocked doorway and two 2-light chamfered mullion casements. The interior has not been inspected.
