Description
This barn, located approximately 25 meters east of The George in the Parish of Slimbridge, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick with a stone slate roof and features three bays. The outer bays have alternating brick quoins that return to the gables, while the center bay is distinguished by plain brick pilasters. The entire structure is topped with a brick dentil cornice made up of four courses.
The barn is two storeys high, with openings at each level in the outer bays that have half-brick segmental heads and recessed ventilating brick diaper fill. Centrally, there are corrugated iron doors set within a broad brick segmental head that includes a projecting keystone. The south gable has various ventilating slits that are half-brick wide and extend 10 or 11 courses deep. The back elevation displays similar detailing to the front.
