Description
Valpré is a house located on the north side of Vicarage Street in Painswick. It dates from the early 18th century and has been significantly modified over time. The building is constructed from large dressed square limestone blocks and features a concrete tile roof. It has a simple near-symmetrical layout, set on a raised platform with railings facing the street.
The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has two windows on the ground floor. These windows are three-light flush chamfered mullion casements, positioned beneath a continuous hood. To the left of the 20th-century door, which has a plain surround, there is an additional single light window. On the first floor, there are three widely spaced three-light chamfered mullion casements that are set low down from the eaves, along with two roof lay-lights.
The left side of the house has a plain return wall and a lean-to structure at the back, with a gable stack on the left. The front features a full-width delicate wrought iron railing divided into four panels, which returns with a gate at the left end. This gate provides access to a level raised pavement that is retained by a rubble wall.
