Description

Cranmore Cottage is a house at the end of a row, situated on the street frontage in Painswick. It likely dates from the late 17th century. The house is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with dressed long and short quoins, and has a low-pitched concrete tile roof. It's a tall, narrow, three-storey building, one window wide. The ground and first floors each feature a three-light window, while the second floor has a two-light recessed chamfer mullion casement window set to the eaves, with 20th-century leading. Hoods, which stop abruptly, are above the ground and first-floor windows. A 20th-century door is located behind a small gabled porch on the far left side. The right-hand return elevation has two vertical, elliptical bull's-eye windows set at attic level, and these flank a rebuilt stack. At a mid-level on the return, there are also small, square 20th-century windows. The remainder of the building to the left is not of particular architectural interest.
