Description
Dialtryst is a house in a row, dating from the early to mid 17th century. It is a typical Cotswold town house with a cross-gabled design, set with its gable facing the street and an entrance and stack at one end. The construction uses dressed coursed squared limestone, with stone slate roofs behind coped gables. The house has two storeys and an attic.
The front elevation has a three-light recessed chamfer mullion casement window on each floor, with the first-floor window rising well above the eaves line. A two-light window is set in the gable. To the left, a further two-light window is present at ground floor. These windows generally contain 20th-century steel casement inserts, with the exception of the gable window which retains iron casements with a single diamond-paned window set within a full-height and width frame.
On the right return, there is a small stair light window above a lean-to addition, and a plank door in a moulded surround with a stopped hood. The rear of the house features a further gable, uncoped, and covered with concrete tiles.
Dialtryst represents a good survival in a street where many other buildings have been replaced or altered, retaining significant original features.
