Description
The Priory is an attractive old house, likely built in the 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It features a front made of colour-washed brick, a parapet, and a plain stone coping, along with stone cill courses and a plinth. The building has two storeys and an attic at the rear, with three flush framed glazing bar sash windows. The roof is covered with pantiles. There are full-height bows on either side of the entrance, with the right-hand bow having sash shutters and a stone fender in front of each bow. The entrance is marked by a good stone doorpiece with architraves, consoles, and a pediment, along with a half-glazed door and a lead rainwater pipe and head. The rear and side elevations are picturesque. The listing also includes the gate piers leading into the yard on the northwest side, particularly because the left-hand pier is built into the house; these piers are panelled with moulded caps.
