Description
Castle Villa is an early 19th-century dwelling in a row, situated on Church Street in St Briavels. The villa is rendered and has a concrete tile roof. It is two storeys high and has a three-window front with 16-pane sashes, except for the central window, which has 12 panes. The window surrounds are emphasised by voussoirs that extend beyond the openings. A central six-panel door is accessed via a trellis porch with a semi-circular head. An extension to the left is not part of the listing. The front of the building is defined by cast-iron spear-head railings and a decorative gate, supported by sandstone piers set into a low sandstone wall. Sandstone pillars mark the ends of the railings, which return to the front of the house at the left end. Castle Villa forms part of a row of modest buildings that face the grounds of the nearby castle.
