Description
The Moat House is a detached dwelling dating from around 1790. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a half-hipped slate roof with a stone stack on the left side. The building is 2½ storeys tall and has a two-windowed facade with 12-pane sash windows set beneath solid stone lintels that are marked with voussoirs extending as 'ears' beyond the openings. The central window is a 9-pane casement that replaces what was formerly a door, now accessed through a 20th-century side entry. The left gable includes two small square windows located on the first and second floors. While modest in appearance, The Moat House is a notable part of a group that includes the adjoining Castle View and the Castle located opposite.
