Description
Castle View is a mid-19th century dwelling located on the south side of St Briavels High Street. The building is roughcast with a slate roof and stone gable stacks to a wide-span roof. It is two storeys high and has a two-window front. The windows are 16-pane sashes set to single stone lintels with decorative voussoirs. The central entrance has a four-panel door, partly glazed within a 20th-century porch. The full width of the site is defined by spear-head railings set on a low dwarf wall with sandstone coping. Return walls approximately 1.5 metres high have square copings that run to the face of the building. A 20th-century gate is set into a pair of single stone piers with rounded tops and small urn finials. Castle View is a modest building which forms a good unit with The Moat House and the Castle, which are located either side.
