Description
The Cropp Monument is a short chest tomb located in the churchyard about 1 meter southwest of the porch of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels. It dates from the second half of the 18th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a moulded edge, and the ends are set back slightly, with both the base and lid cut to follow this shape. The sides have raised rectangular panels for lettering, while the ends are elongated rectangular balusters. The monument stands on a plinth with a cyma top, which is set on a flat stone paving. It commemorates Margaret, the wife of R. Cropp, and includes two other inscriptions dated 1766, 1783, and 1790.
