Description
Murrell's Cottage is a small house that likely dates from the 17th century, with some 19th-century alterations. It features a brick-nogged timber frame and is topped with double-Roman clay tiles, while a brick extension on the left has a corrugated asbestos roof. The house has two or three bays and is 1½ storeys high, with a lean-to at the rear and on the gable side.
The entrance front faces at right angles to the road and includes a 2-light casement window on the right and a boarded door on the left, which is sheltered by an open porch supported by timber posts and features a boarded gable. To the left, there is another 2-light casement window, similar to one in the lean-to front that replaced a former door. An external brick chimney is located on the right gable, positioned forward of the ridge, and there is a 2-light casement window in the lean-to dormer to the left of the door. The left gable has a large random-rubble chimney base with offsets, topped with brick, while the bottom is covered by the lean-to. The gable and rear walls are timber-framed. The interior has not been inspected.
