Description

This is a small house, likely built in the first half of the 17th century, with alterations and an enlargement in the 19th century, and minor changes in the mid-to-late 20th century. The house is constructed of random rubble stone with brick nogging to the timber frame, painted brickwork, and a tiled roof with ribbed tiles to the lean-to section. It has an "L" shape, with one-and-a-half storeys and one bay in each wing, plus a single-storey lean-to along one end and a two-storey wing beyond. The right return features a stone gable with a chimney on the ridge; the upper part of this gable is rendered. Stone extends part way along the front wall, with a low brick lean-to wrapped around the corner. To the left is timber framing extending three panels high, with the sill below ground level, containing a two-light casement window on the ground floor. A late 20th-century gabled dormer is positioned above. The projecting wing on the left has a timber-framed right return with a blocked window on the right and a two-light casement on the ground floor; a single-pane window replaces a former doorway. A two-light casement is located on the ground floor, while a late 20th-century wooden window is found in the gable of the left-hand lean-to. The gable above is rendered, showing only the collar. A two-light casement is present, along with flush bargeboards. On the left, set back from the line of the wing parallel to the road, is a chimney rising from the eaves.
