CHURCHDOWN CHAPEL HAY LANE SO 8819/8919 (north side) 12/13 No 17, (Dunston Cottage) II

Cottage. Late C17 or early C18, altered C19, extended late C20. Brick-nogged timber framing on painted brick plinth; painted brickwork, shingle roof. Three-bay, 1½ storey. To road: framing 2 panels high, angle brace to wallplate from main posts, only one way from post by door: plinth painted as shallow panel of framing; older windows C19. Two-light casement on left: fully-glazed, late C20 gabled porch, stone-slate roof; 2-light casement. Right bay brickwork painted as timber-framing, 2-light late C20 casement. Three lean-to dormers, 2-light casements: ridge chimney one bay from right, external chimney left gable. Left return 2-light casement ground floor, tie-beam truss with 2 collars over, 2-light casement: top part gable faced shingles. Originally 2-bay cottage, probably half-hipped, extended one bay late C20.
