Description
The Ruin is a small house, likely built in the 17th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features brick-nogged timber framing set on a stone plinth, topped with a tiled roof. The building has three bays and is one room deep, standing at one and a half storeys. The timber framing consists of two panels high, with the eaves raised slightly and a new wallplate added above the original.
To the right of the center, there is a gabled, single-storey, timber-framed porch with half-glazed double doors. To the right of the porch, there is a single-light window and a paired two-light casement window. On the left side, there is a four-pane window and an external stone chimney breast with slight offsets at the base, leading to a tall, plain brick chimney above. Also on the left, there are two two-light casements positioned together, with wavy-edged boarding above them.
In the corner, there is a half-glazed bay that meets a large external stone chimney projection, with a brick chimney above it against the gable. The house features two gabled dormers, each with two-light casements. Additionally, there is a large external chimney base on the right return and a weatherboarded lean-to in the angle at the front.
