Description
Rock Farmhouse is a late 16th or early 17th century farmhouse, altered in the late 20th century. It is constructed of rendered timber-framing with a stone plinth and a tiled roof. The house has a âTâ plan, with each arm consisting of two bays, and an infill section on one side. There is a gable facing the road. Brick replaces the sill above the plinth, and there is a two-light casement window. A boarded stable door is set within a single-storey, lean-to porch on the right. The first floor has weatherboarding above a bressumer, with a two-light casement window. Weatherboarding is also present on the tie beam gable truss, and over the cambered collar. A 20th century brick chimney is on the left return. On the right return, which faces the yard, is a late 20th century lean-to extension, partly glazed, timber-framed on the left and abutting a framed corner infill on the right. The infill has a gable and a two-light late 20th century window, with weatherboarding above a bressumer. The first floor has timber framing extending over the lean-to on the left, with a two-light casement window. The lean-to roof extends the gable on the right, with a small window near the top. Another two-light casement window is in the gable, with weatherboarding to the tie beam and a cambered collar, angle struts and a pair of clasped purlins. A large external stone chimney breast is on the right return, with tiled offsets and a brick top. The interior has not been inspected.
