Description

Milestone located at Redmarley d'Abitot on Ledbury Road, dating from 1898. This milestone is made of cast iron and has a hollow triangular shape with a splayed top and ribs along the edges. The top of the milestone features the inscription 'REDMARLEY/PARISH'. On the left side, there is a hand pointing to the right with the text 'GLOUCESTER/9 MILES', and below that, in smaller letters, 'COUNTY OF/WORCESTER/1898'. The right side has a hand pointing to the left with 'LEDBURY/7 MILES', and below it, in smaller letters, '...../IRON FOUNDERS/ DUDLEY'. This milestone is part of a series of three located in this and Staunton parishes, which were in Worcestershire until the 20th century.
