Description

This is a late 17th-century house that was enlarged in the mid-20th century and altered again in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick and timber framing, with a thatched roof. The house comprises two sections, each one room deep and one-and-a-half storeys high, joined end to end.

The left wing is taller and longer. This section has timber framing arranged in three rows of panels to the eaves. There is a blocked door on the left side, with a shaped stud. Two sets of two-light casement windows are present; the end of a floor beam is visible above the lower rail of the left-hand pair of windows, with some rails having been inserted later. To the right, a single-light casement window is set back, with a boarded door beneath a lean-to porch with a thatched roof. A three-light casement window is located to the right, cutting through the timber framing. Dormers with two-light casement windows are positioned above each section; the central pair of windows in the dormers are original. A brick chimney sits on the ridge of the roof, in the centre of the left half. An external stone chimney is on the right gable, featuring tiled offsets and a brick stack.

Inside, the floor joists have been raised slightly in the late 20th century. A large fireplace is located in the right-hand room, and a cast iron crane is present. The property was likely originally a farmhouse, converted into three cottages, then reconverted into a single house in the 20th century. The windows on the front elevation are largely from the late 20th century.
