Description

This is a milestone located in Suckley, dated 1898. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring raised black inscriptions. The milestone has a triangular shape. The name of the parish, "SUCKLEY," is inscribed on the top plate. On the left side, there is a hand pointing right with the inscription "TO WORCESTER/ CROSS/ 9.MILES" below it, and at the base, it reads "MARTLEY/ RURAL DISTRICT/ COUNCIL/ 1898." On the right side, a hand points left, with the inscription "TO STOCKS/ ½ MILE/ 176 YARDS" beneath it, and at the base, it states "M & W GRAZEBROOK/ IRON FOUNDERS/ DUDLEY/ 1898." This milestone is part of a group of similar milestones in the area.
