Description

Two cottages, dating back to the 17th century, with probable rebuilding of the southwest cottage in the 19th century. Both were restored in the late 20th century. They are built under a continuous tiled roof and comprise two distinct parts. One cottage is timber-framed, with square panelled walls rendered over, set on a rubble plinth. It has a rubble gable end chimney and a bread oven with a rebuilt brick surround. The other cottage is built of brick, with a gable end and a rear external brick stack. The timber-framed cottage has two irregular bays and a baffle entry to the right of the front elevation, along with a 20th-century brick outshut at the gable end. The brick cottage has three-celled design. Both cottages have two storeys and an attic, with irregular window placement. Each cottage features three casement windows on both the ground and first floors. The timber-framed cottage has a planked door in the end bay, while the brick cottage has cambered-headed ground floor windows and a planked door with a cambered head to the right of the centre. Inside the timber-framed cottage are stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
