Description
Duggins Cottage is a cottage from the early 17th century that was renovated in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with heavy timbers and square panels, some of which are rendered wattle-and-daub, along with 20th-century replacement infill and painted brick infill. The cottage has tiled roofs and an external rubble chimney with a rebuilt brick stack at the rear, as well as a 20th-century external brick stack on the south elevation. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of a single bay for the main part with a front entrance and a large hearth, and a two-bay cross wing at the south gable end. It is two storeys tall with an attic that includes dormers. All windows are 20th-century casements. On the front elevation facing east, the main part has a ground and first-floor window, a flat-roofed dormer, and a planked door. The cross-wing gable end features a ground and first-floor window, an attic light, and a flat-roofed dormer at the angle with the main part. Inside, the cottage has stop-chamfered main beams.
