Description
Jasmine Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 16th century and has been enlarged and altered in the late 20th century. It features brick-nogged timber-framing and an asbestos slate roof. The building has four bays, is one room deep, and stands at one and a half storeys. The garden front faces away from the road and includes an external brick chimney on the right that rises clear of the gable. There is a lean-to brick extension at the angle with the gable, which has a small casement window. Most of the windows and doors are from the late 20th century, and the framing consists of two panels high up to the eaves.
On the right side, there is a brace corner post to the wallplate, a fully-glazed door, and a two-light casement window to the left. A half-glazed lean-to porch is located to the left, with a door on the right return that leads to the glazed door. The building features single-pane and two-light casements, with a brace main post to the wallplate. The left return has an external brick chimney. On the first floor, there are three lean-to dormers, with single-pane windows at the ends and an older two-light casement window in the center.
Internally, the center bay of the original three-bay house may have been open to the roof, while the end bay on the left was added later, and the eaves were raised. One boarded door with an iron latch survives inside. The late 20th-century extension towards the road is not of special interest.
