Description
The Bungalow is a cottage built in 1847 by F. O'Connor for the National Co-operative Land Company, with later alterations. It features rendered random rubble stone walls and a slate roof. The building is single storey, three rooms wide and one room deep, with a rear wing. The centre bay slightly projects towards the road and has a fully glazed late 20th-century front door in the middle. On each side of the door are tall, single pane sashes in original openings, and there is a dumb-bell ventilator in the gable along with plain bargeboards. The wings contain four-pane sashes in original openings. The roof is hipped, with a chimney at the left end reduced to a stump, and additional chimneys located at the rear centre and rear right. The Bungalow is part of a Chartist settlement and is listed mainly for its historical and sociological significance.
