Description

Millbrook is a cottage built in 1847 by F. O'Connor for the National Co-operative Land Company. It has undergone minor alterations in the late 20th century. The cottage features random rubble stone walls that are rendered, and it has a slate roof. It is three rooms wide and one room deep, with a single storey. The centre bay slightly projects and includes a half-glazed door with marginal lights, situated under an open-ended, half-glazed porch that has a glazed roof and gable. On either side of the door are original tall, 8-pane casement windows. The gable has a dumb-bell ventilator, plain bargeboards, and a gable finial. Set back on either side are wings that have late 20th-century large-pane windows in the original openings. The roof is hipped, with a chimney located at the rear and on the right end. Millbrook is part of a Chartist settlement and is listed mainly for its historical and sociological significance.
