Description

Quince Cottage is a small house built in the late 18th century. It features a timber frame with small panels, wattle and daub infill on the sides and rear, and later brick infill on the front. The house has a gabled plain tile roof with a truncated rubble stack on the west gable. It has a two-unit central-entry plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window front. The entrance includes a plank door and two-light casements. Inside, the cottage retains exposed framing and joisting, along with a side-purlin roof. Quince Cottage is one of a group of small cottages that have survived in the Forest of Dean area and is a late example of the timber-frame tradition.
