Description

A late 18th-century barn, with 19th-century extensions, is located at Manor Farmbuildings in Daglingworth. The barn and adjoining outbuildings are constructed of random limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins. The roof is covered with stone slate and artificial stone slate, with plank roofing to the open fronted store; a brick stack is also present. The barn has a rectangular plan with projecting porches on the north-west and south-east sides. Long 19th-century extensions project from the south sides of both porches. An open-fronted store is set at a right angle to the south-west facing elevation. The north-west elevation features a central projecting porch with a hipped roof and double plank doors, and pigeon holes in the north-east facing gable end. A 19th-century extension projects forwards, featuring a double plank door within a segmental-headed surround. The south-east elevation has a central hipped porch to the barn and a four-light casement to the left. A long extension runs forwards to the left, featuring an eight-pane top opening casement to the ground floor, two 19th-century three-light metal casements to the first floor, and two 20th-century plank doors to the ground floor. Two cross-ended tie plates are towards the left gable end. Stone steps lead to a plank door that provides access to a loft on the south-west elevation. Twentyth-century skylights have been added. The interior of the barn contains 5 bays with original collar and tie-beam roof trusses; the 19th-century range has queen post roof trusses. The building occupies a prominent position in relation to Daglingworth Manor and the road to Cirencester.
