Description

This is an 18th-century barn, later partly converted into a house and garage/store, with 20th-century additions. The barn is constructed of coursed, squared, and dressed limestone, with a stone slate roof and some artificial slate. It has a rectangular plan with a projecting lean-to porch on the east side, left of a projecting gabled 20th-century extension. A single-storey extension is present to the south gable end, with a single-storey outbuilding with a shallow-pitched roof extending away to the west; a similar extension opposite creates a courtyard in front of the barn. There is a 20th-century lean-to against the barn wall. The west front features a scatter of 20th-century two and three-light casement windows with glazing bars, and a 20th-century plank door. There are 20th-century skylights on both sides of the barn. The west front has one ventilation slit and traces of another. The east wall features further ventilation slits and three pigeon holes with a stone landing and a small gable. A bull's-eye window is located towards the apex of the south gable end. A ventilation slit and a stilted-headed window with glazing bars are found in the gable end facing the road. There are two 20th-century plank garage doors to the right of the gable end. The gable end has slightly stepped coping with a roll-cross saddle. The gable end facing the road and the east side of the barn are prominent features in relation to the road and the garden of The Manor House. The interior was not inspected.
