Description
Allington House is a detached farmhouse built in the mid 19th century. It features coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and stone stacks. The building has a cross-shaped plan and includes a single-storey 19th-century lean-to at the right gable end. It stands at one and a half storeys tall with a symmetrical facade highlighted by a central gable. The central entrance consists of a four-panel front door set within a segmental-pointed surround, with a single light window above. On either side of the door are two 2-light stone-mullioned casements. The gable-end coping is flat-chamfered with roll-cross saddles, and there is a trefoil finial at the apex of the central gable. At the rear, there is a triple axial stack and a 20th-century stack at the northeast corner of the main body. The exterior remains largely unchanged from when it was built. Allington House forms a picturesque group with a barn located at the corner of the crossroads. The interior has not been inspected.
