Description
The School House is a former school building located next to a row of cottages in Upper Dowdeswell Village. It was probably built in 1843, as indicated by the date on the neighboring school. The structure is made of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a concrete tile roof. It has a rectangular main body with a gable that slightly projects forward on the left side. The building is 1½ storeys tall and features a three-windowed facade. To the right of the forward-facing gable, there are two full dormers. The upper floor is illuminated by 2-light stone-mullioned windows. There is a 20th-century glazed front door located off-centre to the right. The windows and door have stopped hoods above them. The gable ends and dormers are finished with flat gable coping and roll-cross saddles. The interior has not been inspected.
