Description
The gate piers and wall in front of The Manor House date from the 17th century. They are made of ashlar and consist of a coursed squared and dressed limestone wall that extends from The Gazebo to a pier inside the main gate to Dowdeswell Place. The structure features square piers with moulded capitals and large draped urn finials filled with fruit. Each pier has a 20th-century lantern-style light. There are three segmental stone steps leading up to a double-width opening between the piers. The wall varies in height from 2.5 meters to 4 meters and runs away to the right and left in front of the house's facade. On the left side, there is a single-width 20th-century opening with saddleback coping that continues over.
