Description
This barn, located approximately 20 meters north-west of Manor Farm, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble and features a concrete tile roof along with stone slate roofing. The barn is divided into two sections, each with projecting porches on the north and south walls facing the east end. There are stone steps against the wall of a 19th-century lean-to that lead up to a loft in the roof space of the south porch.
The west wall of the south porch has a 'Tudor'-arched doorway, and there is a hipped projecting canopy on the north side of the barn at the west end. An open-fronted store is located at the east gable end. There are 20th-century lean-tos on the south side of both sections and a corrugated iron garage, which is not of special interest. Ventilation slits are present in both parts of the barn, and the flat gable end coping features ball finials that were once at the apex of each gable, with one still remaining at the apex of the south porch. A weathervane is situated at the apex of the east end, and there is a roll-cross saddle at the gable end of the open-fronted store.
Inside, each section consists of four bays with original roof trusses that include collar and tie beams along with double through tie purlins. A pitching window in the dividing wall between the two sections suggests that there was once a loft at the east end.
